Scaling and root planing is a non-surgical technique to treat gum disease, remove tartar and plaque buildup in the gums and around tooth roots, and help prevent cavities and tooth decay. This safe treatment is effective and also helps prevent gum disease from developing. This is also known as "Deep Cleaning" since it cleans below your gum line. If you hygienist recommends this, it consists of two (2), two hour procedures with numbing.
